• Clare Lally is a Carer for her daughter Katie and Katie’s twin Sister Holly. Katie has 24/7 care needs! Clare lives in Duntocher with the Twincesses and their dad Derek, Clare and Derek have been together for over 10years. Clare is a very active Campaigner, she fights for the rights of Unpaid Carers in all caring roles not just Carers like herself. Clare has done a lot of media awareness raising such as interviews for BBC News, STV News, Real Radio adverts, Interviews for BBC Newsnight, Interviews for Good Morning Scotland, Clare has also featured in articles in The Scottish Sun, The Daily Record, Scotland‘s Herald (which she is also a blogger for) Her local Newspaper The Clydebank Post which has been very supportive of Clare and her family, Holyrood Daily, Clare has also for 2 years running now has been the representative for CarersUK in their Text Santa Appeal.   In 2011 Clare did a live interview on ITV’s Daybreak where she discussed why CarersUK is so important to Unpaid Carers up and down the country, in 2012 Clare and the family then for the same Text Santa Appeal for CarersUK, appeared on the Jeremy Kyle Show for a Christmas Special highlighting again the need for CarersUK to continue to support Carers.  Clare is also very active on a local and national level with various organisations such The Princess Royal Trust for Carer’s, Carer’s Scotland which Clare is a committee member on, her local Carer’s Centre which Clare has just recently been appointed a Director on the Board of Director‘s, Clare is in regular contact with Organisations such as CarersUK & Contact a Family.  As well as raising awareness in the media and with Organisations Clare also is active politically – Clare is always meeting Msp’s, Councillors etc.. and raising local and national issues! Clare has met with First Minister and various Ministers in Government, Clare and the family had Willie Rennie leader of the Liberal Democrats Shadow them for 24hours to try to give him a taste of what life as a full-time Carers is like, Clare was invited by Johann Lamont to be the Scottish Labour party‘s Carer’s Champion on Scottish Labours Shadow Cabinet, Clare advises Johann and the Cabinet on the issues that Carers are faced with and constant fights and battles we have to fight.
  • Michael Grieve is a full-time carer for his Wife Claire who suffers from Chronic Pain, they Live in Hawick . He is a Community Councillor on Burnfoot Community Council He and Claire have 3 Children so is Member of Hawick High School Parent Council Locally he is also a Trustee of Hawick Common Riding Committee. Michael Like Clare is a  Member of the Scottish Committee of Carers (Scotland) He is a Member of the Friends of The Borders General Hospital Which is a Charity which raises Money for the Borders General Hospital in The Scottish Borders. He is a Non MSP Member of the Cross Party Group on Carers  and along with Claire a Non MSP Member of the Cross Party Group on Chronic Pain Michael is also a Member of Public Partnership Forum Borders NHS He recently became a Member of P3 Committee of Royal College of General Practitioners (Scotland). He is also on the The South East Scotland RCGP Faculty board  and a member of a project board relating to IT and GP Records Michael is a Public Partner with – Health Improvement Scotland and he was recently Honoured to be made Carers Trust Ambassador for the Co-operatives Charity of the Year. Michael Worked for 13 years in Local Government mainly in Housing and is on the Board of Management of  Scottish Borders Housing Association he is a member of Borders Voluntary Care Voice And we must not forget  that he is also a Blogger not just this Blog but on Michael Says.
